I am guessing that something in our install package is wrong or missing key files so any ideas would be helpful.
Now the gory details:
1. We're testing using a cloned virtual machine for a small set of users so nobody gets hurt!
2. This user runs Notes with the program on his C: drive and his data files on a network share (U:\Notes46).
3. We use a CA Product to install software via packages. This package uninstalls 6.5 and install 8.5.3. For this attempt, we kept the data directory as U:\Notes46 then realized that this was going to cause us issues so we set up a new dir U:\Notes85 and copied in Names.nsf, desktop6.ndk, and user.id from U:\Notes46 to U:\Notes85. We've tried it copying bookmark.nsf into the new directory but that makes no difference. Desktop8.ndk is created on first run.
4. I made the assumption that some required template is missing so I copied in every one from my (running) install. This didn't fix the problem.
5. The user has a 20 gb drive with about 2 gb free.
6. There are no subdirectories in U:\Notes85 except the IBM_Technical_support.
7. Added a 'Workspace' directory, no change.
8. No errors pop up but the client never loads.
We're going to roll back the VM and get the package modified to use U:\Notes85 as the data directory.
Anything specific I should be looking for or at?
TIA for any tips.
Doug
